Trailer Park
by Stevie Wong
American Gangster (dir: Ridley Scott) - Based on a true story of how a drug lord (Denzel Washington) smuggled in drugs in the coffins of Americans killed during the Vietnam war. Russell Crowe plays the detective who tried to bring the whole operation down. Denzel vs Russell? I'm sooo in!
The Assassination of Jeese James by The Coward Robert Ford (dir: Andrew Dominik) - Robert Ford (Casey Affleck) joins the Jesse James (Brad Pitt) gang of theives, only to hatch a plan to assassinate his leader because of growing jealousy. Definitely a much buzzed about film of the fall season.
Alien vs Predator: Requiem (dir: Colin & Greg Strause) - This time the ultimate battle lands on a small town, where the locals have to band together for their lives.
I'm Not There (dir: Todd Haynes) - One of the most highly anticipated movies of the fall film festival / award season is the story of legendary songwriter Bob Dylan as told through 7 different actors (Cate Blanchett, Richard Gere, Heath Ledger, Christian Bale) playing moments of his life. Experimental and daring, you will either find this movie to be the coolest of the year or pretentious. I'm going for the prior choice!
National Treasure 2: Book Of Secrets (dir: Jon Turteltaub) - Ben Gates (Nicholas Cage) returns to uncover the truth behind the assassination of Abraham Lincoln. From the trailer, the obstacles look even more death defying than before. Could be fun.
Dan In Real Life (dir: Peter Hedges) - When a popular newspaper agony aunt columnist (Steve Carrell) finds that his own love life is a mess, he turns to his wacky family for answers. Except this time, things are even more complicated because he's falling in love with his brother's (Dane Cook) latest girlfriend (Juliette Binoche). I love movies like this!
Rogue (dir: Greg McLean) - The director of Wolf Creek returns with a nail biting monster flick about a group of tourists trapped on a riverbank surrounded by crocodiles. Radha Mitchell (Silent Hill) and Michael Vartan (Alias) hope that they aren't on the menu. Looks horrifyingly yummy!
Harold and Kumar 2 (dir: Jon Hurwitz and Hayden Schlossberg) - Tthey're baaack! Everyone's favorite cult stoner duo (John Cho & Kal Penn) return with another zany adventure en route to Amsterdam. You should have seen the response when this trailer played in the theatres last weekend. Insane!
Wierdsville (dir: Allan Moyle) - What happens when two crooked slackers (Scott Speedman, Wes Bentley) try to bury a body in the basement of a warehouse where a group of satanic cult members also use as their homebase? A whole lot of weirdness is what happens. If you like your movies a bit off kilter, this looks like the perfect film.
