VIP Access Episode #4: BEE MOVIE -- Sunday, December 2nd @ 20:30 HKT
by Brian

Look, up in the sky, it's a bird, it's a plane, it's Jerry Seinfeld as a bee! The next episode of STAR MOVIES VIP ACCESS will dig deep into the nectar of the #1 hit, BEE MOVIE starring Jerry Seinfeld, Renee Zellweger, Matthew Broderick and a hive-full of celebrity cameos including John Goodman, Ray Liotta, Sting, CNN's Larry King and Oprah -- what's a media event without Oprah??
BEE MOVIE is Jerry Seinfeld's first foray into feature filmmaking not to mention animation. But joining forces with Dreamworks and director Steve Hickner (PRINCE OF EGYPT) was the smart move. The result is a Seinfeldian comedic romp that finds Barry B. Benson (voiced by Mr. Seinfeld) as a bee who has the opportunity to finally leave the hive only to get separated from the group. He very quickly comes into contact with the human world and is saved by a florist named Vanessa (voiced by Renee Zellweger). The two become fast friends, but when Barry discovers that humans have been stealing the bees' beloved honey for their own consumption, he does what any heroic bee would do: sue the human race.
We were lucky enough to talk with Jerry Seinfeld not once, but twice for this movie. Stevie caught up with him on the Paramount lot in Hollywood and Dominic met up with Jerry on his trip to Hong Kong, part of his Asia press tour. You won't want to miss either of these interviews, particularly the one where one of our host's foreign language skills are severely tested.
Also in this week's show, we check in with the Singapore premiere of Leonardo DiCaprio's compelling environmental documentary THE 11TH HOUR, as well as Stevie's exclusive interviews with Daniel Radcliffe, star of DECEMBER BOYS and his hilarious one-on-one interviews with Ben Stiller and crew from THE HEARTBREAK KID.
Don't bee-left bee-hind, check out BEE MOVIE in a theater near you:

VIP Access exclusive: The Game Plan interviews
by Stevie Wong

Now that you've seen our VIP Access special of The Game Plan (playing on Star Movies AND on our site), I would like to present to you the unedited FULL interviews I did with the director and cast of the film (including my own 1 on 1 interview with Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson that didn't make it on air).
First up is director Andy Fickman (She's The Man) who was not only totally funny (you gotta hear what he says about what his son thinks about him as a director), but honest about the trials of working with a diva... like the dog.
Golden Globe winner Kyra Sedgwick (from the TV series The Closer) is up next with her take on why this film is so entertaining for everyone (plus the joys of playing a no-nonsense catty agent on the big screen).
Now we have sexy actress Roselyn Sanchez (from the TV series Without A Trace) who talks about watching Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson tap into his softer side AND the lessons she learned from working with Jackie Chan in Rush Hour 2.
Finally, you've seen Dom go head to head (ok, stone paper scissors) with The Rock, now check out my moment with the man in which he jokes about wanting to be the center of attention AND tells my mother a thing or two about talking with your hands (this totally will go on my year end list of fave moments!).
Trailer Flash: Cloverfield new trailer!
by Stevie Wong
Cloverfield (dir: Matt Reeves) - For those of you who have been following this top secret disaster/monster (?) film, the folks at Paramount have released a brand new trailer that exposes more plot of the movie.
With the discussion boards going mad (you gotta read what the fanatics are saying over at the fan based Cloverfield News site) of the trailer breakdown, speculation is high that the JJ Abrams (MI:3, Alias) production does indeed involve an attack by a larger than life being on New York City.
Honestly, the release date of 1-18-08 can't come fast enough!!!
VIP Access On The Spot: An Evening With Tim Burton
by Stevie Wong
.jpg)
This was the invitation that came to me via email last week, an exclusive evening with director Tim Burton in which we were not only allowed to mingle with the cinematic genius, but also sit in on a one on one chat in which his greatest works were broken down by Tim himself.
As an added bonus, Tim Burton showed us 3 world premiere clips of his highly anticipated film Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street (more on that later).
Of course, on the day of the event, I unfortunately arrived a tad late and missed the chance to see Tim up close and personal for cocktails (though my friend said he was basically surrounded by a gaggle of reporters).
So I grabbed my seat in the theater and after a rushed intro (in which Tim was brought out awkwardly by moderator Richard Pena of the Film Society of Lincoln Center), the director was then quickly sent backstage so the 1st of his retrospectives could be shown.
Broken down into 5 minute segments titled "Blockbusters" (Batman, Batman Returns, Beetlejuice), "Animation" (The Corpse Bride, The Nightmare Before Christmas), "Johnny Depp" (Edward Scissorhands, Ed Wood, Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory) and "Sweeney Todd", Richard went on to ask almost fanboy-like questions to a surprisingly honest Tim Burton.
From laughing at how bad the effects were for Beetlejuice, to admitting that Johnny Depp modelled his Willy Wonka after Vogue editor in chief Anna Wintour , the strangest moment came from his introduction to the upcoming Stephen Sondheim musical adaptation (oh yes, if you didn't know already, Sweeney Todd is a musical!).

Admitting that the film is on it's final touches (the world premiere is in a week!), Tim apologised beforehand just in case we wouldn't like what we were going to see.
First things first, Johnny Depp (in their 6th collaboration) has a really nice voice! Playing a wrongly imprisoned barber who, upon coming out, goes a bit loopy by killing all his clients with a 'close shave' (oh, did I mention his downstairs neighbor decides to make "meat pies" soon after?), Depp went on a creative mission to find his singing voice and apparently didn't showcase them until a few weeks before the cameras were set to roll.
The other amazing thing is that the movie is B-L-O-O-D-Y! Tim Burton is really going out on a limb here by crafting a dark and twisted musical that will either be a masterpiece or a creative disaster.
It was a real shame that the whole event was just an hour long, because watching Tim Burton on the eve before the potential storm was pretty darn cool. I could have easily stayed there a couple more hours.
Check out the official trailer for Sweeney:
And this brand spanking new clip that shows Johnny Depp (aka Sweeney Todd) in vocal action!
VIP Access On The Spot: The Dark Knight press conference in Hong Kong
by Stevie Wong

Last Thursday (Nov. 8), director Christopher Nolan brought the cast and crew of his highly anticipated Batman sequel, The Dark Knight, to Hong Kong for an intense 4 day shoot.
During that time, Christopher Nolan, Christian Bale and Morgan Freeman took some time to hold a packed press conference in which they answered some questions including why Hong Kong was chosen as a perfect place for Batman this time around.
"I think it would be a really interesting thing to take this iconic American character and put him somewhere else in the world", answered Nolan, "and in looking for an appropriate location for that I immediately thought of Hong Kong because I think Hong Kong is such an incredibly cosmopolitan place."
Check out the rest of what The Dark Knight press conference had to offer!
Stevie's Blog: An Apology
by Stevie Wong

Apologies from Hollywood and beyond, as some of you may have noticed, the blog has been very VERY lacking in updates for the past few weeks and well, you can blame me for the horrible upkeep.
Ironically, I have never been working harder to bring you some of the biggest names in Hollywood. In the past 3 weeks alone, I've talked to Russell Crowe, Denzel Washington, Halle Berry, Benecio Del Toro, Sir Antony Hopkins and Renee Zellweger (count that, 6 past Oscar winners!). I've also mixed with the likes of a bee, a santa, a princess AND a vampire slayer. It's definitely been busy for big ol me.
So why have I been holding back? I got sick! Like cough up a lung, hide under the covers, sniffling away, sick. So much so that I'm just finally coming around to being able to write you this apologetic post.
I'm back, I won't leave you guys again, I hope you forgive me.
Now back to bringing Hollywood to your laptops!
