VIP Access exclusive: Alvin and the Chipmunks
by Stevie Wong
After giving away cool gifts from the Alvin and the Chipmunks gang, I'm finally getting the chance to show you the full interviews that I did for the surprise holiday smash ($142 million and counting after only 3 weeks!).
I did have an inkling that the remake of the beloved animation characters would do really well since I saw the film in a room full of under 8 year olds and no one moved the whole time.
For those of you who still don't know what these naughty chipmunks are about, here is the trailer... again!
Now for the interviews, we were actually invited to Alvin and the Chipmunk's creator Ross Bagdasarian home (in gorgeous Santa Barbara!) and hung out on their sprawling garden all day. But the coolest part of the visit was the fact that original Alvin memorabilia was everywhere.
When it was time for my interviews, it was announced that Jason Lee (Dave) was going to be doing his press alongside the voices of the chipmunks (Justin Long, Jesse McCartney and Matthew Grey Gubler). But between you and me, when it comes to interviews, I'm good with two people, borderline on three and completely frightened of talking to four (or more) people at the same time.
So watch the following interview and see me squirm as I think I've lost control of the group (ironically this interview has had more than 2600 hits on our youtube channel! I think Matthew Grey Gubler and Jesse McCartney have alot of fans).
After chatting the boys of Alvin, I got back to my comfort zone and had the wonderful opportunity to talk to Ross Bagdasarian Jr. and his wife Janice Karman. If you didn't know this, this couple have been integral in getting Alvin updated for the 21st century.
Check out what they had to say about casting for the voices and teaching Jason Lee to do the infamous 'ALVIIIIIIIIN!!!!' shout correctly.
What a lovely couple.
And if you still can't get enough of Alvin and the Chipmunks, check out my current youtube obsession of hearing popular songs sung Alvin style. Under the guise of Chipmunk Nation, click here for to listen to their versions of top 40 tunes (my faves are "Hey There Delilah", "Crank That Soulja Boy" and oh yes, even "Bohemian Rhapsody").
