GEC Watch: Colors, Big Magic gain viewership; Life OK returns to No. 4

Star Plus and Sony witness sharpest decline in Week 45 of TAM 2014.

Colors and Big Magic were the only Hindi general entertainment channels to add more eyeballs in Week 45 of TAM 2014. While Colors added maximum viewership strengthening its position at No. 2 and increasing the lead margin from Zee TV, Big Magic registered a growth of 22 per cent this week. Colors has ranked No.2 seven weeks in a row.
The week also witnessed change in pecking order as Life OK returned to No. 4 position. According to data sourced from TAM subscribers for Week 45 of TAM 2014 (November 2 – November 8) for CS 4+, HSM markets, Star Plus retained the top slot despite losing maximum viewership this week. Colors increased its lead margin from Zee TV to 92 TVM. Life OK replaced SAB TV from No. 4 position as Sony TV remained at No. 6.
Star Plus recorded a gross viewership of 610 GTVM with a relative share of 24.84% (last week 655GTVM and 25.87% of relative share).
Colors gained maximum viewership this week and recorded a gross viewership of 486 GTVM with a relative share of 19.79% (last week 457 GTVM and 18.05% of relative share).
At No. 3, Zee TV recorded a gross viewership of 394 GTVM with 16.04% relative share (last week 405 GTVM and 16.00% relative share).
Life OK held its viewership at 305 TVM and returned at No. 4 position. The channel had a relative share of 12.42%.
SAB TV slipped to No. 5 by losing 22 TVM this week. It’s gross viewership was recorded at 285 GTVM with 11.60% relative share. (last week 307 GTVM and 12.12% of relative share).
Sony lost a huge chunk of its viewership this week and dropped to 245 GTVM with a relative share of 9.98% (last week 285 GTVM and 11.26% of relative share).
Big Magic witnessed a jump of 22 per cent in its gross viewership this week. The channel fetched a gross viewership of 69 TVM with a relative share of 2.81% (last week 56 GTVM and relative share 2.21%)
Sony Pal and Zindagi were unmoved at 31 GTVM each with a relative share of 1.26%.

Prem Kamath, channel head, Channel V, adds, "Participation has gone up by almost 100 per cent. We have had 500-600 participants earlier, this year we had about 1000 participants in each zonal."
