GEC Watch: Only Colors grows in Week 28; returns to No. 3 position

Zee TV, Star Plus, SAB TV, Life OK and Sony drop in their viewership compared with last week.

Week 28 of TAM 2014 witnessed decline in viewership of all major Hindi general entertainment channels except Colors which returned to No. 3 position pushing Life OK back to No. 4.

Zee TV lost maximum 54 TVM that it added last week on the back of television premiere of ‘Main Tera Hero’. Star Plus too lost 31 TVM this week after it added 44 TVM on the back of Star Parivaar Awards last week. SAB TV, Life OK and Sony too witnessed a drop in their viewership this week.

According to data sourced from TAM subscribers for Week 28 of TAM 2014 (July 6 – July 12) for CS 4+, HSM markets, Star Plus led the genre followed by Zee TV at No. 2. Sony and SAB TV retained No. 5 and No. 6 positions, respectively.

Star Plusdropped to a gross viewership of 673 GTVMs with a relative share of 27.87% (last week 704 TVM with 29.15% relative share).

Zee TV lost 54 TVM that it earned from television premiere of ‘Main Tera Hero’ last week. The channel recorded a gross viewership of 425 GTVM and a relative share of 17.60% (last week 479 TVM and 19.83% relative share).

Colors was the only Hindi GEC to add more viewers this week. The channel returned at No. 3 position with 342 GTVM and a relative share of 14.16% (last week 320 TVM with 13.25% relative share).

Life OK slipped to No. 4 this week with a gross viewership of 325 GTVM and a relative share of 13.46% (last week 348 TVM and 14.41%).

Sony too witnessed a marginal drop this week and recorded 279 GTVM. The channel had a relative share of 11.55% (last week 288 TVM and 11.93% relative share).

SAB TV dropped to 248 GTVM this week from last week’s 276 GTVM. The channel’s relative share was at 10.27% (last week 11.43% relative share).
