GEC Watch: Star Plus, MSM's channels gain in week 41

The Hindi GEC hierarchy remained unchanged.
Star Plus maintained its lead in the Hindi general entertainment (GEC) space with 598185 GVTs in week 41 (ended June 28) of TAM. As per TAM data (C&S 4+, HSM) provided by a subscriber the channel gained viewership this week; it had registered 549108 GVTs in the previous week. Four of its shows appeared in the list of top 10 shows.
Spot No.2 was occupied by Colors TV with 432481 GVTs, which is marginally less than week 40's 433419 GVTs. Two of its shows made it to the list of top 10 shows.
Zee TV was at the No.3 spot with 412888 GVTs. The channel fared a little better than it did in week 40, during which it garnered 401002 GVTs. Three of its shows made it to the list of top 10 shows.
Rank No. 4 was bagged by Life OK that got 292327 GVTs, as opposed to 299054 GVTs last week.
Sab TV and Sony Entertainment Television followed with 272524 GVTs (last week: 253925 GVTs) and 244573 GVTs (last week: 234031 GVTs), respectively.
Star Utsav ended the week with 86380 GVTs (last week: 92512 GVTs), Zee Anmol with 79667 GVTs (last week: 80549),
Sony Pal with 23814 GVTs (last week: 22904) and Zindagi with 19978 GVTs (last week: 20405).
Week 41: A look at the shows
Star Plus' Diya Aur Baati Hum and Saathiya Saath Nibhana were the most watched Hindi GEC shows with an average of 8455 TVTs and 7879 TVTs, respectively.
Next, is Zee TV's Jodha Akbar (7732 TVTs), followed by Star Plus' Yeh Hai Mohabbatein (7353 TVTs).
At No. 5 is Zee TV's Kumkum Bhagya that clocked 6953 TVTs in week 41 of TAM. Next in the line is Star Plus' Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai with 6649 TVTs.
The seventh spot is occupied by Zee TV's Jamai Raja that ended the week with 6232 TVTs. Colors' Sasural Simar Ka recorded an average of 5771 TVTs during the week.
At No.8 is Colors' Comedy Nights with Kapil that got 5942 TVTs.
SAB TV's Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah took the ninth spot with 5753 TVTs. Color's Udaan settled at the tenth spot with 5480 TVTs.
For the record, TVT is television viewership in 1000s (TVR in 1000). It is the average number of individuals in '000s that are available at any given minute of a programme (or 'part of day'). It captures growth in TV audiences in the country in absolute numbers. The TVR system, in contrast, works on percentages.

We are positive that our metro audiences will see a connect with Ishita and Raman, and follow their story.”
