GEC Watch: With 5 fiction shows in top 10, Star Plus expands leadership in non-fiction

Star Plus strengthened its leadership by securing five slots in the top 10 weekday shows in Week 45 of TAM 2013 where all of its top performing shows registered growth in their viewership. According to TVT data sourced from TAM subscribers for Week 45 (November 3 to November 9) CS 4+, HSM markets, Zee TV held 3 slots while Colors and SAB TV were left with one show each in the top 10 weekday shows. 

Comedy Night with Kapil on Colors grew further to strengthen its leadership among weekend shows. Nach Baliye 6 on Star Plus opened at 6,034 TVT and was the most viewed non-fiction show.

Bigg Boss 7 on Colors further improved to 5,133 TVT in Week 45 against 5,024 TVT in Week 44.

Weekday toppers (all data in TVT in 000’s)

Diya Aur Baati Hum on Star Plus surged ahead to 10,921 TVT this week (last week 10,155).

Jodha Akbar on Zee TV also registered growth in viewership and registered 8,989 TVT in week 45 (last week 8,101).

Pyaar Ka Dard Hai on Star Plus held its viewership and No. 3 position and recorded an average TVT of 7,754 (last week 7,752).

Colors’ Balika Vadhu bounced back this week and jumped two positions to No. 4, recording 7,581 TVT (last week 7,080).

Star Plus’ Saathiya held No. 5 position with an average TVT of 7,518 (last week 7,509).

SAB’s Taarak Mehta ka Ooltah Chashma slipped two positions to No. 6. The show recorded an average TVT of 7,135 against last week’s 7,637.

Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai on Star Plus held No. 7 position with 7,039 TVT. The show had an average TVT of 6,986 last week.

Sapne Suhane Ladakpan Ke on Zee TV went two positions up at No. 8 with improved ratings this week. The show fetched 5,993 TVTs (last week 5,152).

Mahabharat on Star Plus made a comeback in the top 10 list at No. 9, recording an average TVT of 5,475 (last week 5,214).

Zee TV’s Qubool Hai was at No. 10 with 5,397 TVTs (last week 5,625).

Weekend toppers

Comedy Night with Kapil on Colors grew further to strengthen its leadership. The show aired on Diwali night recorded 7,357 TVT (last week 6,631).

Nach Baliye 6 on Star Plus opened at 6,034 and was most viewed non-fiction show.

Sony’s crime series, CID, fetched 5,501 TVT against last week’s 4,317 TVT.

Dance India Dance Season 4 slipped further to No. 4 in its third week. The show recorded 4,678 TVTs (the show opened at 5,187 TVT).

Sony’s other crime show, Crime Patrol, averaged at 4,284 TVT this week against last week’s 3,818 TVT.

KBC on Sony witnessed a significant jump this week adding 1,593 TVT. The show recorded 4,029 TVT this week (last week 2,436).

Life OK’s Shapath recorded 3,418 TVT against last week’s 3,172.

Colors’thriller, 24, improved this week and touched 3,222 TVT (last week 2,755).

Fear Files on Zee TV fetched 2,735 TVT (last week 2,888).

Sony’s crime show, Adalat, recorded 2,413 TVT (last week 1,529).

Comedy Circus on Sony recorded 1,910 TVT.

Star Plus’ crime fiction, Arjun, recorded 1,787 TVT (last week 1,846).

Bh Se Bhade on Zee TV fetched 1,735 TVT in its third week (last week 2,139).
