Life OK and Rajshri Productions present a young love story with Mere Rang Mein Ranganewaali

13 November 2014

~The show features newcomers Samridh Bawa and Pranali Ghogare~

Mumbai, November 13, 2014: Marriage is a turning point in everyone’s life and needs consent of both partners before they get into a matrimony. But what happens when things go wrong and it leads to a path where two opposite individuals get into a wedlock by accident? While it amazes us, it will amaze our audiences too. Life OK brings alive the bitter-sweet pill of romance with its new show Mere Rang Mein Rangnewaali in association with Rajshri Productions. The master of storytelling Sooraj Barjatiya along with Life OK presents a youthful love story of 21 year old Radha and 22 year old Liladhar that goes beyond the clichés of teenage romance. The show is slated to go on air from Monday, November 17, 2014.

Mere Rang Mein Rangnewaali features two new faces in lead roles; Samridh Bawa playing the role of Liladhar and Pranali Ghogare essaying the role of Radha. Set in the backdrop of Mumbai and Mathura, the show features ensemble cast including Alok Nath, Dolly Sohi, Mahesh Thakur and Imraan Khan playing pivotal roles.

Born in Mumbai, Radha fantasises of becoming a successful actress and winning best actor award someday.  She lives each day with a purpose of fulfilling her father’s dream to watch her daughter beam on the celluloid. While Radha is all about reveries and desires, Liladhar aka LD as he is fondly called, comes from a contradictory ménage as Radha’s. He belongs to a contemporary family set up headed by his conformist grandfather Shankar Nath played by Alok Nath. While Shankar Nath does not approve of sending his grandchildren to study outside Mathura, Liladhar’s mother Sadhana is in support of it. Liladhar’s father Govind (Mahesh Thakur) usually finds himself in a spot where he is torn between his father and his wife after they have difference of opinions.

Radha and Liladhar’s story starts with a fight in their very first encounter. Animosities between them increase eventually and leads up to a situation where Radha and LD get married by mistake as a result of an unforeseen event.  While Liladhar in due course accepts Radha and falls in love with her, Radha is reluctant to accept her marriage with LD and rejects him.  LD leaves no stone unturned to convince Radha to accept their marriage but she point blank refuses.

Content acquisition a double-edged sword for English GECs

Kevin Vaz, Business Head, Star World which also has channels like, FX and Star World Premiere HD said, “Our audience has the maximum skewness towards drama, hence we are keen to acquire shows in that category. We acquired 26 news shows in September 2013. When we chose shows, the audience profile matters a lot. Our core audience would be up-market English speaking people who like global content.”

Hindi GECs: A battle for eyeballs

Star Plus general manager Gaurav Banerjee says: “The story is urban and contemporary. This love story begins after a marriage gets over. It explores the theme of a second chance in love. With well-etched characters and a strong urban narrative, the show deals with day-to-day issues faced by modern couples. We are positive that our metro audiences will see a connect with Ishita and Raman, and follow their story.”
