Star announces early 2015 line-up for its English GECs

 Starting January 1, Star World Premiere HD, Star World, FX and Fox Crime will air new shows. Here's a peek at what's in store channel by channel.

The latest entrant in the bouquet of channels will start the year with the premiere of the sixth season of American family drama, 'Parenthood'. The show will launched yesterday, will air every Thursday at 11 pm.
The last and final season of the critically acclaimed series, follows the trials and tribulations of the Braverman family. The series set in Berkeley, California on the east shore of the San Francisco Bay area, revolves around three generations of the family.
The second show in the programming line-up is 'Agent Carter Season 1'. Starting January 9, it will air every Friday at 10pm. Set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), the American TV series shared continuity with the films of the franchise. The series features the Marvel Comics character Peggy Carter, with Hayley Atwell reprising her role from the film series, as she balances administrative work and going on secret missions for Howard Stark, while trying to navigate life as a single woman in 1940s America. Several characters from MCU films appear throughout the series.
MasterChef Junior US, a popular property in India, will be back in its third season. Starting January 10, it will air every Saturday at 9 pm. This competition will showcase 16 of the best home cooks who will compete in the MasterChef Junior kitchen for the most coveted title and a prize of $100,000. The show will feature talented kids in the age group of 8-13, who will showcase their culinary abilities and passion for food through a series of challenges. Hosted by chef Gordon Ramsay, the judging panel will also include chef Graham Elliot and Joe Bastianich.
Come January 26, the channel will launch season 1 of 'Backstrom', which will air every Monday at 9 pm. The American crime comedy-drama series focuses on Everett Backstrom (Rainn Wilson), an "overweight, offensive, irascible" detective, who is engaged in a constant struggle with his "self-destructive" tendencies, and is part of a team of eccentric criminologists.
Season 3 of 'The Americans' will premiere on January 29 and air every Thursday at 10 pm. Set during the Cold War, the series focuses on the personal and professional lives of the Jennings, sometimes incorporating real-life events into the narrative.
Starting January 30, the channel will air 'Helix' Season 2, every Friday at 11 pm. The American science fiction thriller-drama television series follows a team of scientists from the Center for Disease Control and Prevention, who travel to a research facility in the Arctic to investigate a potential outbreak of disease. Fresh Off The Boat is a show that will launch on February 15 on the channel. The show is a single camera comedy based on chef Eddie Huang's memoir of the same name.

The channel will start the year with fifth season of American musical comedy- drama television series 'Glee' on January 5. It will air Monday-Friday at 11 pm.
Melissa & Joey Season 2 will launch on January 13 and air Monday-Friday at 8:30 pm. One of TV's hit comedies, this series follows local politician Mel Burke (Melissa Joan Hart) and Joe Longo (Joey Lawrence), whom Mel hires to look after her niece (Taylor Spreitler) and nephew (Nick Robinson), after a Ponzi scheme leaves Joe broke.
'Monk' Season 3 is next. Starting January 21, it will air Monday-Friday at 9 pm. This American comedy-drama detective television series stars Tony Shalhoub as the eponymous character, Adrian Monk. It follows Monk, a brilliant San Francisco detective, whose obsessive compulsive disorder happens to get in the way and his adventures solving cases.
Downton Abbey Season 1 will air every Monday to Friday at 10 pm, starting January 23. This British period drama series is set in the fictional Yorkshire country estate of Downton Abbey and depicts the lives of the aristocratic Crawley family and their servants in the post-Edwardian era - with the great events in history having an effect on their lives and on the British social hierarchy.
On February 2, the channel will launch 'Homeland' season 4 that will air every Monday-Friday at 11 pm. Homeland is an American political thriller television series developed by Howard Gordon and Alex Gansa, based on the Israeli series Hatufim (English title: Prisoners of War), which was created by Gideon Raff.

The channel will launch 'Breaking Bad' season 5 on January 6. The crime series will air every Monday-Friday at 10 pm. On the same day, the channel will also premiere the fourth season of Louie that will air on weekdays at 11 pm. The comedy-drama television series is loosely based on comedian Louis CK's life, showing him doing his standup routine on stage, and depicting his off-stage life as a divorced father of two girls.
'Alias' season 4 will start airing from January 7. The American spy-action television series will occupy the weekday 9 pm slot.
'Community' season 4 is the next show in the line-up, which will air every Monday to Friday, at 11:30 pm, starting January 12. This American sitcom follows a group of students at a community college in the fictional town of Greendale, Colorado. It makes heavy use of meta-humour and pop culture references, often parodying film and television clichés and tropes.
Starting January 26, the channel will telecast 'The Practice' season 4, Monday to Friday at 8 pm. An American legal drama, it centres on the partners and associates at a Boston law firm. The series follows the firm's involvement in various high-profile criminal exploits and cases, and the defence attorneys of the Boston law firm.
Seinfeld season 1 will launch on FX on January 27 and air Monday-Friday at 11 pm. The American sitcom Jerry Seinfeld as a stand-up comedian whose life in New York City is made even more chaotic by his quirky group of friends, who join him in wrestling with life's most perplexing, yet often trivial questions. 'The Americans' season 1 will premiere on January 28 and air Monday to Friday at 10 pm.
Fox Crime
The channel will premiere crime drama series, 'The Killing' season 1 on January 14. The show will air Monday-Friday at 10 pm and revolves around a police investigation, the saga of a grieving family, and a Seattle mayoral campaign, all interlock after the body of 17-year-old Rosie Larsen is found in the trunk of a submerged car.
On the same day, the channel will also launch the fourth season of 'Prison Break' that will air Monday to Friday at 9 pm. This series revolves around two brothers - one has been sentenced to death for a crime he did not commit, and the other, who devises an elaborate plan to help his brother escape prison and clear his name.
On January 16, the channel will launch 'Boston Legal'. It will air Monday-Friday at 11 pm. The legal drama is set in the fictional law firm of Crane, Poole and Schmidt in Boston, Massachusetts. It is a spinoff of "The Practice", which was created by David E. Kelley.
