Star India inks distribution deal with Etisalat to offer 17 channels in UAE

?With an aim to expand further in the UAE market, Star India has signed a landmark distribution deal with the region’s leading telecom provider Etisalat to offer 17 of its network channels on the latter’s IPTV platform e-vision.

With the deal in place, channels in six languages (Hindi, Bengali, Marathi, Tamil, Kannada and Malayalam), including Star Plus, Life OK, Star Gold, Star Jalsha, Star Vijay, Movies OK, Jalsha Movies, Star Pravah, Star Utsav, Suvarna, Suvarna Plus and others will be available as part of eLife TV Asian Choice Basic package.

The subscription price for the package starts at 30 dirhams ($8) per month. Star Group country head Middle East, Africa & Pakistan Sumantra (Sumo) Dutta said, “This is a landmark initiative in our quest to reach out and make the top watched and favourite Star channels available to the widest set of viewers.”

e-vision CEO Humaid Rashid Sahoo added, “This is a big step forward for the UAE TV industry and should excite all eLife TV subscribers as we continue to offer more channels, greater choice and flexibility. We have endeavoured to bring the market’s favourite Star channels that will provide greater value to our offerings with legitimate access to such content in the UAE.”

eLife TV is delivered via Etisalat’s high-speed fibre-optic network and offers a wide variety of services and offerings including more than 490 TV channels through premium TV packages from all major TV providers, which can also be viewed on a variety of platforms and multiple screens including PCs, tablets and mobile devices.
