Star Plus’ Saraswatichandra to air in Georgia

22 September 2014

Star Plus’ popular fiction show ‘Saraswatichandra’ is all set to air in Georgia on Rustavi2 Broadcasting Company’s New Channel and Ladies Channel.

The love story will air on both the channels starting October. This follows an agreement signed between Star India and Rustavi2 for the broadcast of the show.
The deal was facilitated by Intellecta Srl, which is a long term partner of Star India in the territories of Europe, Russia and the CIS countries.
Star India COO Sanjay Gupta said, “Star India’s entertainment content has gripped people from all over the globe and its acceptance across geographies is a testament to our commitment of inspiring people. We’re delighted that our stories continue to transcend borders and are confident that it will enthrall the audience in Georgia as well.”
Earlier, Rustavi2′s channels also aired Star’s other popular show Bidaai which marked the premiere of the Indian TV series in Georgia.
Intellecta Srl CEO Christina Vlahova added, “Following the success of Bidaai, which launched the Indian TV series in Georgia, we are very happy to now be able to offer the Georgian audience one of the most beautiful and aesthetically appealing TV series out of India. In the face of Rustavi2, we found a remarkable partner who was the first to believe in the potential and the success of the Indian TV series.”
Rustavi2 programming director Giorgi Lominadze said, “We are always on the lookout for new and interesting TV programs from around the world. We enjoyed working together with Intellecta Srl, who played a key role in our search for the best Indian TV series. As a result we started airing Bidaai and have received a very positive response from the audience. So now we want to give them an even better experience with Saraswatichandra, which will start airing this fall.”
‘Saraswatichandra’ is a classic love story based on a novel written by popular Indian author Govardhanram Tripathi. The show also marks the television debut of one of Bollywood’s most celebrated filmmakers, Sanjay Leela Bhansali, who is known for his movies that have deeply influenced Indian cinema.
‘Saraswatichandra’ is the story of two soul mates Saras and Kumud who are denied the joy of becoming one by destiny and tradition. It is a classic tale of love and heart ache, pride and prejudice, of yearning and longing.
The choice of ‘Saraswatichandra’ comes after a careful selection done by the channel in order to show the Georgian viewers the traditional and at the same time most visually appealing TV series from India.Source: Televisionpost.com

Mad in India: STAR's answer to Comedy Nights

Ashish Golwalkar, programming head, non-fiction, Star Plus, says, "If the content is strong, people really don't care about anything else as long as you are making them laugh. People keep drawing comparisons and we are aware of it. But, if you look at 'Mad in India' closely, it is a very different show. It will talk about day-to-day problems that we face but will have a funny take on all of them. It's not a satire, not a political comment, not a show taking digs on people, it's a show for, by an
