Press Release

The Television Premiere of Southpaw on Star Movies Select HD – September 17 at 9 pm.

13 September 2016

Sometimes, things do not get better.  Sometimes, life will not treat you fair. But every single time you get hit, you do not give up. You stand tall and fight back because the harder the struggle, the more glorious the triumph. A feeling echoed by the riveting story of ‘Billy Hope’, starring Jake Gyllenhaal and acclaimed director Antoine Fuqua – Southpaw.
Billy Hope seemingly has it all with an impressive career, a beautiful and loving wife (Rachel McAdams), an adorable daughter (Oona Laurence) and a lavish lifestyle. When tragedy strikes and his lifelong manager and friend (Curtis "50 Cent" Jackson) leaves him, Hope hits rock bottom. Billy enters the hardest battle of his life as he struggles with redemption and to win back the trust of those he loves.
It’s a story of a boxing champion, who lost everything that he loved and resolves to fight back with every ounce of his strength and will to earn his life back. Southpaw dares to depict a fighter’s greatest challenger - himself. Famous artists like Eminem, 50 Cent, Gwen Stefani and The Weekend have played a pivotal role in making Southpaw an inspiring story of hope. The film also gained a lot of appreciation for its music, especially the OST by Eminem.
Star Movies Select HD stays true to the promise of showcasing the best stories. Witness a journey of sheer grit and determination of Hope in Southpaw exclusively on Star Movies Select HD on September 17 at 9 pm.
