MATT HOFFER
Day Job: Musician
Hometown: Chicago, Illinois (originally from Denver, New York)
In the summer of 2005, Matt Hoffer finally realised his dream of being a full-time musician. Born in Denver and raised in upstate New York, Matt was fond of ice hockey during his early childhood. Shortly before high school, once he picked up the guitar, his passion for music exploded.
He began practicing guitar obsessively and quickly became one of the best guitarists in his hometown, although his equal love for ice hockey made playing in a band difficult. After graduation, Matt started his career as a real estate broker, moonlighting as a frontman to his first all-original band, Holding Mercury, until he could afford to concentrate on his music. Since releasing his first solo EP, "Never Comfortable", Matt has opened for such national acts as Vertical Horizon, Roy Langdon of Spacehog, The Smithereens, and Grace Porter and the Nocturnals. He has been featured on Awarestore.com's Earsnacks Volume 7 compilation, as well as numerous podcasts and online music magazines. Matt's music draws from influences as far ranging as Metallica and Megadeth to The Police to Black Rebel Motorcycle Club to Rufus Wainwright and Jeff Buckley.
