Show us how to rock it and you may soon find yourself rockin’ your way to Los Angeles, California to watch the Rock Star: Supernova Finale! Plus you get to visit the Rock Star Mansion and meet the show’s rock legends and rock stars.

Special awards will also be given to the PEOPLE’S CHOICE, presented in partnership with NU 107, and the PRESS PICK.

To join STAR WORLD’S “Rock Star Supernova Showdown”, unleash your inner rocker on tape and submit your video with the [ application form ] on or before August 19, 2006.

Are you ready to rock?
STEP 01:
Contest registration is FREE. Just send a video (VHS, VCD, or DVD) of yourself singing a rock song of your choice.
STEP 02:
Along with the audition tape,
send in a completed online [ application form ]

or request from STRATWORKS by calling 8179558 or 8137083.

Application forms are also available at NU 107, Odyssey & O music & video store and your nearest cable operator’s business centers.
STEP 03:
Make sure it gets to us on or before August 19, 2006. The address is STRATWORKS 7/F RCI Building 105 Rada St., Legaspi Village, Makati City.
Eligibility:
  1. Contestants must be 18-35 years old, with two valid IDs for identification and verification purposes (passport, School/Company ID, SSS, driver’s license).
  2. Must be an amateur singer with no recording history and professional performing background (e.g. vocalist or member of a band).
  3. Must have a passport and U.S. visa valid until March 2007.
  4. Contestants’ household must be a current subscriber of a cable/satellite operator with STAR WORLD.
Selection Process:
  1. All entries will be viewed and judged according to voice quality (40%), stage presence (30%), and rock star factor (30%).
  2. Judges will select 16 best performance videos to join the Go-See Gig.
  3. The 16 short-listed applicants will be notified by phone to perform live at I.O. KTV, 136 Jupiter St., Bel Air 2, Makati City.
  4. Out of the 16, only 8 finalists will be chosen to compete in the Rock Star Supernova Showdown on August 31, 2006 at Dish Ground Floor, ELJCC, ABS-CBN Compound, Mother Ignacia St., Quezon City
  5. The Judges decision will be final.
  6. The grand prize winner will receive a trip to L.A. to watch the Rock Star: Supernova finale show.
  7. Prizes cannot be converted to cash or cash alternatives.
  8. Promoters, Star World and its affiliates and others associated with Rock Star: Supernova contest are not permitted to join.
  9. Star World reserves the right to use the names and images of the winner for publicity and promotion purposes.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS

  1. STAR WORLD & MIX FM’s “Win Fantastic Rockstar: Supernova Merchandise with MIX FM and Star World” SMS contest shall be held from 14th Aug 2006 at 9:20am to 13th September 2006 at 2pm. (“Contest Period”).
  2. The contest is based on the program, Rockstar: Supernova which is scheduled to be aired over the Astro Star World Channel 70 from 6th July 2006 to 14th September 2006 (”Scheduled Broadcasting Time”).
  3. The contest is open to all Astro subscribers in Malaysia only and subscribers of prepaid and post-paid service for 012, 017, 016, 014, 013 & 019 mobile phone operators with Short Messaging System (“SMS”) services (“Contestants”).
  4. Employees of STAR, MIX FM & Astro All Asia Networks plc, MEASAT Broadcast Network Systems Sdn. Bhd and its subsidiaries and affiliates ("Astro"), sponsors, agencies, dealers, retailers and their immediate family members are not eligible to participate in this contest.
  5. The Contestants shall be permitted to participate in the Contest via the use of their mobile phones only.
  6. Contestants must be of eighteen (18) year and above to participate.
  7. Where applicable, contestants must obtain consent from the bill payers before participating in the Contest via SMS. Payment shall be made irrespective of whether such charges were authorised by the bill payer. For the purposes herein the term "bill payer" shall mean the individual, company or entity specified in the registration or subscription form whose application for the relevant service has been approved and accepted by the service provider.
  8. To enter the contest, contestants will need to SMS their votes. For the weekly episodes, contestants will need to SMS their votes on every Wednesday beginning 12th July 2006 from 9:50am-2pm only.
    9. Charges
  9. Each SMS sent by the Contestant will be subject to a premium charge of RM0.50 in Malaysia. This charge is in addition to the standard SMS fee charged by the Contestant’s mobile phone operator.
    10. Selection of Winners and Prizes
  10. Contestants are to vote for their favourite rockstar candidates every week whereby every 50th SMS voter (50th,100th, 150th, 200th and etc) can win exclusive merchandise. Votes must be within the voting period specified. Also, every week MIX FM (Non) will call the 50th & 100th voter on the following day between 10am -1pm. The 2 selected contestants/voters will need to participate in a radio contest on MIX FM to be the weekly champion.
  11. Selected weekly voters will need to take part in a series of test on radio in order to be short listed & to enter the grand finals at a designated venue in Kuala Lumpur.
  12. The weekly selected winners will need to participate at a ground event where they may be tested on their Rockstar knowledge and singing/performance ability. The winner at the local ground event will win a trip to the finals in LA, USA.
  13. The weekly winners will win exclusive Rockstar: Supernova merchandise and Quiksilver cash vouchers.
  14. The Contest winner and his/her companion must ensure they have a valid passport and are responsible for obtaining necessary visas at his/her sole cost and expense. No compensation is payable should the winner fail to obtain such documents, regardless of circumstances.
  15. Not with standing the above, STAR reserves the right at its sole and absolute discretion to vary the prize with others of equal value, without assigning any reason or giving prior notification.
    16. Judging
  16. The Judge’s decision is final and binding. No correspondence shall be entertained.
    17. Variation to the Terms & Conditions
  17. STAR, ASTRO & MIX FM reserves the right to use the names, photographs, voice of the winner and entries of the contest winner for publicity purposes without obtaining any consent or payment to the contest winner.
  18. STAR, ASTRO & MIX FM reserves the rights to change, amend, delete or add to these Terms and Conditions of this Contest without prior notice. STAR, ASTRO & MIX FM shall not be responsible or liable for any problems, damage or loss of whatsoever nature to the winner and companion resulting from their participation in the Contest/use of the prize.
  19. The winner agrees to indemnify STAR, MIX FM & ASTRO on a full indemnity basis with respect to any claim, suit, or proceeding of whatsoever nature brought by any of the winner beneficiaries and/or third party(s) in respect of the acceptance and/or use of the prize.
  20. Contestants are required to adhere to the Contest’s Terms and Conditions. STAR, ASTRO & MIX FM reserves the right to forfeit the prize(s) in the event any of the Contest Terms and Conditions is not adhered to.
