Aamir Khan makes his debut on television with STAR India

Conceptualizes a defining show under Aamir Khan Productions; the show to go on air early next year on Star India Network channels in 8 languages

Star India Pvt. Ltd and Aamir Khan have joined hands to create a revolutionary show that will inspire a billion imaginations. This is the first time Aamir will appear on television and in line with his track record this will be different from anything that television has seen before. The channel has described the show as a show about India and its stories that will change lives and will touch the heart of every Indian.

The show is being produced by Aamir Khan Productions and will go on air early next year; however, the title of the show is not decided yet.

The symbiotic collaboration of two of entertainment’s biggest names promises to enable a journey of change through the lens of real stories, real lives and real emotions.

It is a journey that will connect with people across class and geography. The show will get unprecedented support and will leverage the scale of the Star network. It will be broadcast simultaneously across 8 languages covering the length and breadth of India and beamed over 100 countries around the world.

Uday Shankar, CEO, STAR IndiasaysNo Bollywood star has shown the ability to move the masses with his experimentation as much as Aamir has done in the last decade. Star India is doing the show with Aamir Khan to reinforce the same agenda of creativity, to push the limits of programming and come up with something which will be enormously impactful and engaging.”

Commenting on this concept,Aamir Khanreveals, “Over the last few years I have often been approached with various television shows. But none of those that were offered to me, really excited me. I work on excitement. What excites me about television is its power and reach, its enormous potential to connect with people. And this is what I want to use. I want it to be an enriching experience, for me and for my audience. This is not just a show for me, it’s a journey.  A journey of discovery, of change, of emotions, of human stories which touch and inspire us. My dream is to impact lives, and who better than Star to help me achieve this. Star, not only has the stature and the network to be the perfect platform for this show, but also has a great team of people, starting with Uday, whose involvement and contribution is very critical to the show”.

High hopes for ‘Satyamev Jayate 2’

With a tagline that reads: ‘Jinhe Desh Ki Fikar Hai’, season two promises hard-hitting content like before but the format will be different.

Star Plus' rejigged programming pays off

Gaurav Bannerjee, Head, Star Plus explains, “While it is true that the increase in ratings is a result of extendng the weekday strategy to Saturday, I also believe it is because of the stickiness of our content. Our weekday prime time has 11 shows out of which almost 5 to 6 are in the top ten every week. So our content, which we have worked very hard to suit the contemporary Indian woman across geographies, has found a hook with our audience."

The tussle over live cricket scores

Ajit Mohan, Head, New Media, Star India said, “Digital should be an incremental leap in the way people consume sports. But if you look at the current crop of digital sports service companies, it has been a huge regressive step backwards, because essentially you’re trying to describe a match through text commentary."
