Channel V launches new show The Buddy Project

Channel V – India’s leading youth entertainment channel is all set to entertain its audience with a new property titled:The Buddy Project.

The show is set at “The Royal Academy”, a once prestigious school that has had its image tarnished by its current batch of students. A fascinating story depicting the journey of eight distinct students explores the rebellious and vulnerable nature of each of the characters. Unfortunately, the only person who realizes the predicament of the students is Principal Ramanujam. In an attempt to regain the lost pride of T.R.A. and to help direct the enrolled students toward constructive personal and academic development, he brings in an old alumnus –Anirudh Jaitley.

The story unfolds as Jaitley endeavours to help the students learn more about themselves and be comfortable in their own skin. In the process of helping students discover themselves, Jaitley rediscovers his own youthful exuberance. The underlying theme of the show is that life will always send us an “indicator”. Someone or something that makes us realise who we really are and what we are actually capable of achieving.

Manav Gohilwill return in to the small screen as the enchanting Anirudh Jaitley. The show will see host of young artists who will be essaying characters of students.  Fahad Ali, Bharti Kumar, Palak Jain, Cheshta Bhagat, Kunal Kulbhushan Jaisingh, Nikhil Mehta, Jatin Sharma and Krishna Patel are some of the prominent actors. Veteran actorShishir Sharmawill give face to the character of the Principal of Royal Academy.

Announcing the launch of the show,Prem Kamath, Executive VP & GM, said “We are very excited to launch our latest endeavour at storytelling – The Buddy Project. As with all our properties, we have taken great pains to explore a facet that greatly affects the youth at their age. Very often our choice of peers and role models shapes our entire life. TBP delves into unique relationships between a set of reprimanded students and an accidental mentor. Considering all the added pressures today’s generation faces, this will be a fresh air of relatability and reference in their lives. Obviously the portrayal of such strong characters needs careful selection and we are delighted to have an ensemble of great talents like Manav and Shishir Sharma who will play crucial roles.”

Manav Gohil,who renders the role of the quintessential mentor – Anirudh Jaitley, said, “I’m quite excited to play the role, it has kind of an infectious aura around him. I feel it’s a great move to be back on TV with Channel [V] one of the most sought after channel by youngsters.” Adding more about his character and the show he said, “The show is vibrant and fast paced in its narration. With a great mix of young cast in the show and engaging storyline, we are confident to connect with the audience.”

The show has been produced by Sunshine Production.
