GEC Watch: &TV clocks best-ever opening at 91 TVM

This is the first time that a general entertainment channel has opened at as high as 90,612 GVTs

With only five and a half days in the opening week, &TV, the newly launched Hindi GEC from ZEE made a blockbuster debut in the ratings game, clocking the best-ever opening for a general entertainment channel (GEC) at 90,612 GVTs.

According to data sourced from TAM subscribers for Week 10 of TAM 2015 (March 1 – March 7) for CS 4+, HSM markets, Star Plus maintained its leadership position. Zee TV retained its No.2 position followed by Colors at No. 3. Life OK continued to be at No. 4. SAB TV and Sony were at No. 5 and No. 6, respectively. &TV came in at No. 7 in its opening week.
Star Plus recorded a gross viewership of 604 GTVM with a relative share of 23.90% (last week 638 GTVM).
Zee TV witnessed decline in its viewership this week but retained No. 2 position. The channel recorded 427 GTVM with a relative share of 16.90% (last week 442 GTVM).
Colors’ gross viewership grew to 424 GTVM with a relative share of 16.78% (last week 418 GTVM).
Life OK recorded a gross viewership of 314 GTVM and a relative share of 12.43% (last week 312 TVM).
SAB TV witnessed a huge jump in its viewership this week and recorded 312 GTVM with 12.35% relative share (last week 265 GTVM).
Sony recorded a gross viewership of 247 GTVM with relative share of 9.77% (last week 235 GTVM).
&TV opened at No. 7 with 90.6 GTVM.
Big Magic recorded 40 GTVM with a relative share of 1.58% (last week 40 GTVM).
Sony Pal recorded a gross viewership of 38 GTVM with a relative share of 1.50% (last week 38 GTVM).
Zindagi was at 22 GTVM and a relative share of 0.87% (last week 20 GTVM).
Epic recorded a gross viewership of 8.2 GTVM against last week’s 7 GTVM.
