GEC Watch: Sony, Life OK grow against IPL onslaught

Zee TV holds its viewership while Star Plus, Colors and SAB TV witness drop in Week 20 of TAM 2014.

As IPL continues to affect Hindi general entertainment channels, Sony and Life OK withstood the IPL onslaught in Week 20 of TAM while all other top GECs witnessed decline in their gross viewership.

According to data sourced from TAM subscribers for Week 120 of TAM 2014 (May 11 – May 17) for CS 4+, HSM markets, as Star Plus slipped below the 700-mn mark with reduced leadership margin, and  Zee TV held its viewership. Colors slipped further and a growth in the viewership of Life OK brought both the channels with kissing distance. Sony too strengthened its position by adding maximum viewership this week.

Star Pluslost maximum eyeballs this week and dropped to 681 GTVMs. The relative share of Star Plus was reduced to 28.77% (last week 733 TVM with 30.47% relative share).

Zee TVheld its viewers and recorded 394 GTVM with a relative share of 16.65% (last week 395 TVM and 16.42% relative share).

Colorsdropped further to 367 GTVMs with a relative share of 15.50% (last week 376 TVM with 15.63% relative share).

Life OKadded a few eyeballs this week and inched closer to Colors. The channel recorded a gross viewership of 354 TVM with a relative share of 14.96% (last week 348 TVM and 14.46%).

Sony’sadded maximum eyeballs in Week 20 and grew to 313 TVM with a relative share of 13.22% (last week 286 TVM and 11.89% relative share).

SAB TVdropped further to 258 TVM with a relative share of 10.90% (last week 268 TVM and 11.14% relative share).
