GEC Watch: Star Plus acquires top 4 shows in weekday programming

Star Plus has five shows in weekday top 10 list followed by Zee TV with 4 shows in Week 49 of TAM 2014.

Star Plus strengthened its weekday dominance acquiring the top four slots. According to data sourced from TAM subscribers for Week 49 of TAM 2014 (November 30 – December 6) for CS 4+, HSM markets, Star Plus had five shows in the weekday top 10 list followed by Zee TV with 4 shows.
SAB TV’s Tarak Mehta continued to be in the top 10 club this week. Colors’ no-show in weekday top 10 continued for the second consecutive week.
The new weekday fiction show on Zee TV, ‘Satrangi Sasural’, opened at an average viewership of 5 TVM.
‘Bigg Boss Season 8’ on Colors grew to 5.2 TVM (last week 5.1).
‘Comedy Night with Kapil’ continued to rule weekends with an average viewership of 6 TVM followed by Zee TV’s Neeli Chhatri Wale at 3.8 TVM.

Star Plus’ Diya Aur Baati Hum strengthened its leadership with an average viewership of 13.1 TVM this week (last week 12.9 TVM).
Ye Hai Mohabbatein on Star Plus retained its No. 2 position despite a decline in viewership. The show dropped to 9.4 TVM this week (last week 9.9 TVM).
Sathiya Saath Nibhana on Star Plus jumped two positions to No. 3. The show had recorded an average viewership of 9.2 TVM (last week 8.2 TVM).
Star Plus’ Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai also jumped two positions to No. 4 this week with an average viewership of 8.4 TVM (last week 7.6 TVM).
Tarak Mehta on SAB TV slipped one position to No. 5. The show fetched an average viewership of 8.4 TVM (last week 8.3 TVM).
Kumkum Bhagya on Zee TV slipped three positions to No. 6 and recorded an average viewership of 7.7 TVM (last week 8.3 TVM).
Zee TV’s Jodha Akbar held No. 7 position with an average viewership of 6.9 TVM (last week 7.4 TVM).
Qubool Hai on Zee TV jumped two positions to No. 8 with an average viewership of 6.8 TVM (last week 6.7 TVM).
Ek Hasina Thi on Star Plus retained its No. 9 position with an average viewership of 6.5 TVM (last week 6.8 TVM).
Jamai Raja on Zee TV was at No. 10 with an average viewership of 6.4 TVM against last week’s 6.9 TVM.
Weekend toppers
Comedy Nights with Kapil on Colors retained the top position. The show fetched an average viewership of 6 TVM (last week 6.6 TVM).
Zee TV’s Neeli Chhatri Wale fetched 3.8 TVM this week (last week 3.7 TVM).
In its finale week, India’s Raw Star on Star Plus fetched an average viewership of 3.8 TVM (last week 2.4 TVM).
Sony’s crime series, CID, witnessed a marginal decline in its viewership and recorded 3.3 TVM against last week’s 3.4 TVM.
Comedy Classes on Life OK grew to 2.5 TVM (last week 2.4).
Maharakshak Aryan on Zee TV stayed at 2.2 TVM this week.
Sony’s other crime series, Crime Patrol, dropped to 2.1 TVM (last week 2.4 TVM).
Star Plus’ Airlines dropped to 1.1 TVM (last week 2 TVM).

Star India enters into partnership with International Hockey Federation

Nitin Kukreja, head of sports business, says, “This time we will be airing 24 matches in the prime time band at 8 pm. This is a learning from the previous season. Also, we had added some new features in the live telecast that should make for better and more interesting viewing.”

Star India has bagged the broadcasts rights from International Hockey Federation (FIH) in an eight-year deal.
