GEC Watch: Star Plus captures top 3 slots; Colors’ 3 shows in weekday top 10

Screen Awards on Life OK fetched 5.3 TVM, while ‘Bigg Boss’ on Colors averaged 5.8 TVM in its finale week.

Even as Star Plus captured top three slots inWeek 5 of TAM 2015, Colors had three shows in weekday top 10. According to data sourced from TAM subscribers for Week 5 of TAM 2015 (January 25-31) for CS 4+, HSM markets, Star Plus ruled the weekday programming with four shows in top 10 followed by Colors with three shows and Zee TV with two shows. SAB TV had one show in the top 10 club.
‘Bigg Boss’ on Colors fetched an average of 5.8 TVM in its finale week. Screen Awards on Life OK garnered 5.3 TVM.
‘Comedy Nights with Kapil’ on Colors remained the weekend chart topper, followed by Zee TV’s ‘Neeli Chhatri Wale’ and Sony’s ‘CID’.
Weekday toppers (all data in TVM, 000000’s)
Star Plus’ ‘Diya Aur Baati Hum’ stayed at the top of the weekday chart with an average viewership of 10.7 TVM this week (last week 10.7TVM).
‘Sathiya Saath Nibhana’ on Star Plus retained No. 2 position this week despite a drop in its viewership. The show recorded an average viewership of 8.6 TVM (last week 10.2 TVM).
‘Ye Hai Mohabbatein’ on Star Plus also held its No. 3 position. The show fetched an average viewership of 8.6 TVM this week (last week 9 TVM).
‘Kumkum Bhagya’ on Zee TV was at No. 4 with an average viewership of 8.4 TVM (last week 8.7 TVM).
‘Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai” was the fourth show from Star Plus in top 5. It had an average viewership of 8.1 TVM (last week 8.2 TVM).
‘Sasural Simar Ka’ on Colors rose two positions to No. 6 this week. The show garnered an average viewership of 7.3 TVM (last week 7.5 TVM).
Zee TV’s ‘Jamai Raja’was at No. 7 with an average viewership of 6.9 TVM (last week 7.8 TVM).
‘Tarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah’on SAB TV slipped to No. 8 position with an average viewership of 6.8 TVM (last week 7.7 TVM).
‘Udaan’ on Colors was at No. 9 with an average viewership of 6.7 TVM against last week’s 7.2 TVM.
Colors’ third show in top 10 was ‘Meri Ashiqui Tumse Hi’with an average viewership of 6.5 TVM (last week 6.3 TVM).
Weekend toppers
‘Comedy Nights with Kapil’on Colors remained the weekend chart topper with 4.9 TVM (last week 5.6 TVM).
Zee TV’s ‘Neeli Chhatri Wale’was the second most watched show during the weekend with 4.4 TVM this week (last week 4.4 TVM).
Sony’s crime series, ‘CID’, fetched an average viewership of 4 TVM.
Zee TV’s flagship singing reality show ‘Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Li’l Champs’fetched 3.6 TVM (last week 3.7 TVM).
‘Bhanwar’ on Sony recorded 2 TVM this week (last week 1.6 TVM).
Sony’s other crime series, ‘Crime Patrol’, had an average viewership of 1.4 TVM (last week 1.4 TVM).
‘Maharakshak Aryan’ on Zee TV dropped to 1.2 TVM this week (last week 1.4 TVM).

Is the Media in trouble? Mumbai Press Club holds discussion on subject

Every business has to have a value system, and the editor needs to be sensitive to that. Journalists need to wake up to the economic reality, and it can’t be denied. On the other hand, those who recognise that are willing to swing to the other extreme and do anything. That also is neither healthy nor sustainable.”

Channel V plans more events

Prem Kamath, channel head, Channel V, adds, "Participation has gone up by almost 100 per cent. We have had 500-600 participants earlier, this year we had about 1000 participants in each zonal."
