UK ratings: Star Plus starts 2014 at top

Star Plus stays top of UK ratings

Unsurprisingly Star Plus started the new year at pole position but with its weekly reach falling below the 1 million mark for the first time in months.

According to latest data from BARB for week ending Sunday 5th January, Star Plus had a reach of 950,000, losing 124,000 viewers since the previous week. Its the first time that the channel has fallen below the 1 million viewers mark for many months. Rishtey was in second place with a weekly reach of 783,000, UMP Movies next with 694,000, Colors followed with 631,000 and Zing and Sony SAB TV were joint fifth with 570,000 viewers.

The next tier was led by Lamhe with 541,000, Star Gold with 502,000 and Star Life Ok at the bottom with 397,000.

Al Jazeera English led the Asian news genre with a weekly reach of 1,046,000, followed by ARY News with 374,000, Geo News was next with 328,000 and Aaj Tak led the Indian news ratings with 310,000 viewers. NDTV 24×7 with 288,000, ABP News with 247,000, SAMAA TV with 244,000 and News18 India with 45,000 viewers followed.
