Star India CEO to Address Paley Center for Media Conference

Uday Shankar, head of the broadcaster owned by Rupert Murdoch's21st Century Fox, will be the first Indian media exec to speak at Paley Dialogues in New York.
Uday Shankar, CEO of Star India, owned by 21st Century Fox, will address a breakfast session at Paley Dialogues on May 30 in New York. The event is organized by the Paley Center for Media. Shankar will be introduced by 21st Century Fox Co-COO James Murdoch at the session, which will be moderated by Time International editor Bobby Ghosh.
According to a Star India statement, Shankar will discuss the journey of the company and how, in its two-decade history, it has become a leading player in the Indian media industry by using its programming to spark national discussions on a range of social and political issues. Most notably, the network's hit talk showSatyamev Jayate -- hosted by top Bollywood star Aamir Khan and focusing on India’s pressing social concerns -- has become a premier platform for the discussion of social issues. Star India's broadcasting network runs more than 40 channels in 7 languages, claiming a reach of more than 600 million viewers every week across India and 100 other countries. Since 1995, the Paley International Council Summit has provided an independent forum that brings together chief executives of the world’s most important media, entertainment and technology companies to advance the exchange of ideas and to foster community among them.
