Press Release

TV show first, then Talaash

28 February 2012

Actor-producer-director Aamir Khan will not have promotional tie-ups between his first ever TV show and his upcoming release, Talaash, although that was rumoured to be the course of action. The cop thriller releases on June 1, while the show is most likely to go on air in April or May.

The 46-year-old, who is also producing his social issue-based TV show, has been shooting its episodes across India.

When asked, Ritesh Sidhwani of Talaash co-producers Excel Entertainment, says, “Aamir is still scheduled to start his show in April. Our movie was first expected to release on January 26.
It was postponed because of a shoot schedule that came up in October, and then, we got busy with Don 2. But nothing has put his plans on hold. He’s very clear that he completes his show; then promotes Talaash, before starting off on Dhoom 3 in June.”
It was late last year when Aamir announced that he would be making his small screen debut with a concept that combines reality TV, chat shows and social causes.  Even then, he and Star Plus’ head honcho Uday Shankar had said that they would not allow film promotions on the show, nor would they wait for the Indian Premiere League 5 matches to end.
“Every show has its own kind of viewership. There are crores of Indians who love to watch cricket. But the matches don’t air all day and we don’t find them all interesting. So, I don’t think we will wait for the IPL to wrap up. We will take the show on air the day we’re feel it’s apt,” Aamir had said.
